HOW YOUR BODY HEALS

Your body is constantly repairing and rebuilding

Your body RE-builds…

  • A new brain in 1 year…
  • New blood in 4 months…
  • An entire skeleton in 3 months…
  • New DNA in 2 months …
  • New skin in 1 month…
  • And a new stomach lining in 5 days!

It is true that individual cells have a finite life span, and when they die off they are replaced with new cells. As The New York Public Library’s Science Desk Reference (Stonesong Press, 1995) notes, “There are between 50 and 75 trillion cells in the body. Each type of cell has its own life span.”

Healing, Re-Tracing or HerxHeimer Reactions

Retracing is a fascinating process whereby the body experiences deep healing of infections, wounds, injuries or other imbalances.  Healing reactions are temporary symptoms that occur as a result of the retracing process. Most of the time, they go unnoticed, but could cause a slight swelling while it is healing- think of it like the scaffolding going out while the workers are repairing underneath. It is Nature’s way of letting you realize that there is a project going on in the body – Example:  “While my wrist was healing it was a bit swollen and I felt like I should hold it still like as if it were in an imaginary cast. I still kept taking the supplement that I was on –  since that is what Naturopaths recommend. After 2-3 days the swelling went down and my wrist that had hurt for over 2 years was completely better and I haven’t had trouble since.” -Patti Miner
